Email Marketing: 5 Golden Rules of Making it Effective

Email marketing is becoming very popular these days and it has changed the face of brand promotion. No more promotional tours, hoardings, pamphlets and sales guys. The best thing is that mass advertising has become affordable for small and medium companies also. Which was impossible before Email marketing era.

But, Email marketing practice is not that easy. You need to follow certain rules to make it really effective. Following are 5 golden rules to run a successful Email campaign.

Make your objectives very clear: Before sending Emails must ask to yourself what you want to achieve. Must set realistic objectives. For example do you want to sell more number of units, increase awareness of your brand or encourage audiences to promote the brand. Now, each objective will result in different campaigns.

Timing is Important: This is true that timing can make or break an Email marketing campaign. If the aim of your campaign is get people to buy flowers for Valentin's Day, then sending an email more than two weeks before is too early. Also, be careful of sending emails out first thing on a Monday or last thing on Friday or on weekends. Otherwise it will be left unread and deleted.

Subject line: As it is said 'first impression is the last impression'. So make sure subject line is good one. A “free software” subject mail can be considered as Spam. So be careful.

Engage your readers: After catching the attention of the reader it is important to keep them engaged. Your Email should neither be too long or too short. It should be precise and to the point.

Use colour and fonts carefully: Use of colour and special fonts can help to create a mood but use them carefully. Tone down some colours so that they appear crisp.

So, apply your creative brain before sending an promotional Email. And I am sure that you will get the benefit.
